Design Museum

Here you see the workplace of Paul Smith. In the Design Museum his work place have been copied and you can also see a lot of work he made.

When my parents were here, I went with my father to the Design Museum. On the first floor there was a exhibition of Paul Smith. He's an artist, fashion designer, industrial designer, photographer, and much more. The exhibition didn't just showed a lot of work, but also gave a look into the whole design process and the way of thinking. All the inspiration he got from traveling and art was really inspirational.

On the second floor it was almost the opposite of the exhibition from Paul Smith. Instead of the whole process from one person, it was an exhibition from a lot of people and especially the final concept. Here you can find the Designs Of The Year 2014. On the seven different categories you can find some really innovative products: Architecture, Digital, Fashion, Furniture, Graphics, Product and Transport. Some concepts I already new like the Dumb Ways To Die campaign, but there were a lot of other concept I found really interesting.

For example, this mudguard is a very simple and small product but definitely a nice innovation. Those iron bracelets that you could slap on your arm in the 90's are now used for holding the mud from splashing on your back. When you don't need it, you can roll it up and it will function as a reflector. Such a nice innovation which is very accessible for a lot of people.

If you're interested in all the other innovations, visit the Design Museum or check the website.
